Welcome to Room 21!
The dog that is featured on this page is my son's dog, Dolly. She is a puggle, which is a mix between a pug and a beagle. Dolly is basically a mascot for the classroom! There are many "Dolly" stories that keep myself and my son laughing, but not necessarily my husband...
As the weather transitions, please keep in mind of what students wear to school in the morning. Shoes, such as flip flops, tend to do more harm than good while on the playground. We do go outside in the cold and will go outside when there is snow. If your student brings boots, please have an alternate footwear that they can wear inside. Keep in mind that we have physical education on Monday and Wednesday, so sneakers should be worn, especially on those days. Also, the students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle to school.
Homework is an important extension of school It is vital to the success of each student that they have a quiet place to work. I understand this may not always be the case, however, routine is equally important. Be sure to read nightly with your child, even if it is in the car on the way to practices. Additionally, studying math facts is important. While we are not having timed tests yet, the students must know their facts in order to do the more complex math problems that are taught throughout the year.
Thank you,
Mrs. Hilton
and
Mrs. Susan Peters
Hello,
I am so excited to be working with Mrs. Hilton and Ms. Sorrento in their second
grade classrooms. This is my third year teaching at the Mary K. Goode School.
Teaching and it is my second career. I have an undergraduate degree in business and a
master’s degree in education. I love to learn. Each student learns differently.
Each student needs access to what is helpful for them to learn. Learning is a
lifelong process. I am looking forward to a great year and meeting all of
you!
